Lundy’s unwavering dedication and passion for the sport had touched the lives of many.

“RIP to the greatest coach in the nation. Not only was he my golf coach, but he was my mentor, friend, father figure, role model, and so much more. Nothing made me more happy than to hear his belly laugh or to receive one of his yellow smiley faces. This world will not be the same without Roger Lundy in it. I’m not even sure how to navigate that life. This will be a long road ahead and we will need each other. I don’t know what I would do without the lifelong friendships I’ve made because of Roger. We love you, coach! Forever and always”
Hailing from Wausau, Wisconsin, Roger Lundy was a cherished husband to Denise Lundy for over four decades, and a beloved son to Deborah Day Lundy. His social media page highlighted his close bond with his step-sibling, Kim Howell Lewsader, and his brother, Steve Lundy. His legacy lives on through his devoted children, Pete, Conner Eastman Lundy, and Paige Mae Lundy.
Roger’s illustrious career in the realm of golf spanned several significant roles, including his time as an Indiana Golf Foundation PGA Professional and Academy Director. A proud alum of Ferris State University, he began his coaching journey in 2006 as the head women’s golf coach at Franklin College, where he left an indelible mark on the program. Prior to this, he had a distinguished coaching career in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, notably at Manchester College, where his leadership earned him the HCAC women’s golf coach of the year award five times between 2003 and 2012. His guidance also steered the Grizzlies to four conference championship titles, solidifying his legacy as a respected figure within collegiate sports.

Roger’s recent health battle, documented through a GoFundMe campaign organized by Elaine Smith, had garnered widespread attention and concern. Admitted to the ICU isolation unit on October 25 due to pneumonia and sepsis, his health declined rapidly. Despite undergoing surgery to amputate his left leg below the knee, his condition continued to deteriorate, leading to his untimely passing on October 31, 2023.
The legacy of Roger Lundy’s dedication to the sport and the lives he touched will forever be remembered by the Franklin College community and beyond.
