Meet Nuri Muhammad who will be joining Next Level Chef season 2!
Nuri Muhammad, also known as “Chef Stretch” of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, is one of 18 contenders to compete in the upcoming season of Next Level Chefs. According to an interview with Vogaye Baltimore in 2022, the chef began experimenting with the kitchen very early on. He said he was too nervous to wait in the kitchen while his mother took care of his sister and would often bring her own food.
In the interview, he said:
“I will prepare a box of juice, cottage cheese, crackers and grapes for my family errands. They would look at me in the car and wonder why we didn’t think of that. I watched Gordon Ramsey, Chopped, Iron Chef and Cutthroat Kitchen after school. My after-school entertainment includes cooking shows.”
Next Level Chef season 2 contestant said he often helps his mother in the kitchen as a contribution to the family. His sister was in elementary school when he started high school, and he would cook her snacks after school and raise them for her, adding his own flair. Nuri spoke to WTOP about his experience in the upcoming episode, saying it exceeded his expectations. He says that spending time on set, filming and doing all it takes to turn a show into an experience makes him feel like a real celebrity.
The lowest floor, the basement, according to the cast of Next Level Chef season 2, has been “completely demolished”. He went on to say that the basement contained the worst cookware and utensils that other chefs refused to use. The chef went on to praise Gordon Ramsay, calling him “the best guy”. He mentioned the chef’s approach throughout the show and mentioned a mentor component. Chef Ramsay, who has often brought heat to previous series, has taken on a mentor role for the Next Level Chef.
Nuri stated:
“It’s a bit weird to pretend and then have these actual cameras, real people and chefs come in front of you, and you have to cook and chat without sounding like an idiot.”
Next Level Chef season 2 premieres Sunday, February 12, at 10:30 p.m. ET, shortly after the Super Bowl, before returning to its regular schedule on Thursday, February 8, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
