What happened to Danielle Jones? Is Danielle Jones Murdered by Uncle

The Parole Board has rejected the release of Stuart Campbell, who was convicted of the kidnap and murder of his 15-year-old niece, Danielle Jones. Danielle was last seen on June 18, 2001, leaving her home in East Tilbury, Essex, to catch the bus to school.

Campbell, Danielle’s uncle, was sentenced to life in prison in December 2002 for the heinous crime. The recent decision by the Parole Board, following a paper review, means that Campbell will not be released, and the panel also refused to recommend a transfer to an open prison.

A spokesperson for the Parole Board emphasized that decisions are solely focused on assessing the risk a prisoner might pose to the public upon release and whether that risk is manageable in the community. The panel reviews a comprehensive range of evidence, considering factors such as the details of the original crime, any signs of behavioral change, and the impact on the victims.

The spokesperson stated, “Parole reviews are undertaken thoroughly and with extreme care. Protecting the public is our number one priority.”

In 2019, Danielle’s mother, Linda Jones, expressed her opposition to Campbell’s release unless he discloses the location of her daughter’s body. Linda Jones supports Helen’s Law, named after murdered victim Helen McCourt, which seeks to prevent parole for killers who refuse to reveal the whereabouts of their victim’s remains.

The case was referred to the Parole Board in November, leading to the recent decision to deny Stuart Campbell’s release.
