D’Iberville, Mississippi – The D’Iberville community is in mourning following the tragic death of Tristan Smith, a cherished son and brother, who met with a devastating accident on Sunday, September 17, 2023. Tristan’s life was cut short tragically when he was struck by a car along Lamey Bridge Road, just north of Sangani Boulevard, at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Local authorities responded promptly to a distress call reporting a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. Upon their arrival at the scene, they found Tristan Smith in critical condition, the victim of a harrowing accident.

In a stroke of fortunate timing, an off-duty nurse passing by stopped to assist. Together, they initiated life-saving measures, demonstrating exceptional compassion and bravery. Despite their valiant efforts, Tristan Smith was transported to Merit Health Biloxi, where medical professionals, after a relentless struggle, declared him deceased. The cause of death was attributed to severe injuries resulting from blunt force trauma.
As the investigation into this heart-wrenching incident unfolds, preliminary findings suggest that Tristan was attempting to cross Lamey Bridge Road, heading west toward Academy Sports, when the tragic collision occurred.
The loss of Tristan Smith has left a void in the hearts of his family and the D’Iberville community. We extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time as they come to terms with the untimely passing of a beloved son and brother.
