New London, Wisconsin – The community of New London is in deep sorrow as they bid farewell to Cody Immel, a beloved resident who tragically lost his life at the age of 39. Cody’s life was cut short on Sunday, September 17, 2023, in a devastating car accident that occurred in Waupaca County.
According to reports on wbay.com, the accident unfolded around 6:39 a.m., prompting an immediate response from authorities to the Town of Lebanon. Upon their arrival at the scene, they discovered a vehicle had collided with a tree approximately half a mile east of Larry Road.
Cody Immel was behind the wheel of his car, heading westbound on Stage Road when, for reasons yet unknown, he failed to negotiate a turn, resulting in the vehicle colliding with a tree. Tragically, Cody was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding authorities. An ongoing investigation is seeking to uncover the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Cody Immel was born on August 30, 1984, in New London, the cherished child of Randis and Karen (Kersten) Immel. He pursued his education at New London High School, where he graduated in 2003. During his high school years, he dedicated four years to the demanding sport of wrestling. Cody was not only a loving and caring son but also a devoted father and husband, living his life with boundless joy and happiness.
Cody is survived by his loving wife, Elise, and their two beautiful daughters, Myla and Eva. His memory is also cherished by his parents, Randis and Karen Immel, as well as his extended family, including his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wally and Maxine Hoewisch, his sister, Shelly (John) Schmoller, and their daughter Charlotte, his grandmother, Marilyn Kersten, and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The funeral service to honor Cody’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New London, with Rev. Chuck Thompson officiating. Visitation for friends and well-wishers will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London. Additional visitation will be held on Friday, starting at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
