Sunderland, ON – Residents of Sunderland, Ontario, unite in prayer and support for Billy Empringham, who suffered severe injuries in a tragic accident near Omemee on December 14, 2023. The heartbreaking incident came to light through a public announcement highlighting the gravity of the situation.
In response to this devastating event, Emily Gerber initiated a GoFundMe campaign on December 17, 2023, seeking financial assistance for Billy Empringham’s medical and associated expenses. The aim was to alleviate the burden on the family during this challenging time.

“A huge heartfelt thank you to so many people for your hundreds of calls and texts to Brenda , myself and to Brittany and Tyler and their families with so much love and support for Billy Empringham over the last few days . It’s just overwhelming . Thank you to Billy’s friends and a special thank you to both Adam and Luke and his crew from work .“As most know by now he was in a terrible accident on his way to work last Thursday morning he was airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital where he remains with two broken arms multiple broken ribs hip fracture fractured vertebra bruised and lacerations of his liver, spleen and kidneys it’s going to be a long road but the doctors are impressed and happy with progress so far .“Also a very heartfelt thank you to Brad Lamport you are amazing. We are grieving now with Tom Suzanne and Cole with the loss of Noah who felt like a son . Again thanks to everyone we love you al”
The outpouring of generosity from 276 individuals has resulted in an overwhelming total of $22,470 raised, surpassing the initial target of $10,000. The statement accompanying the campaign outlines the dire circumstances, stating, “Raising money for my brother-in-law, Tyler Leach’s younger brother, Billy Empringham. Billy was the passenger in a car accident where he sustained extensive and critical injuries. This go fund me is to provide Billy, a life-long Sunderland resident, with financial support during his recovery.”
