The community of Lima, Ohio, is mourning the unexpected passing of Stetson Patrick Etzkorn, a 3-month and 18-day-old baby who brought immeasurable joy and warmth to the lives of his family. Stetson’s peaceful sleep on the morning of September 4, 2023, has left his loved ones heartbroken, and the loss of this precious little one is deeply felt.

Stetson’s parents, AJ and Taylor (Murphy) Etzkorn, welcomed him into the world on May 17, 2023, in Lima. From the moment he arrived, Stetson displayed a natural curiosity for his surroundings and greeted those who interacted with him with a heartwarming smile, provided his tummy was full.

Snuggling held a special place in Stetson’s heart, especially when his older sisters, Brynlee and Gentry, enveloped him and sang sweet lullabies like “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” or the enchanting tunes from “Frozen.” Stetson was not just any baby; he was the epitome of joy and happiness.

Stetson had a special connection with his mother and was known as a little cowboy. He often dressed in Wranglers, boots, and pearl-buttoned shirts. His growing collection of hats, which framed his captivating eyes perfectly, was the envy of many. Stetson shared a profound passion for farming with his father, a love that hinted at a promising future at the helm of Etzkorn Family Farms.

Stetson’s greatest joy in life was watching tractor and farming videos with his dad. His eyes would light up with excitement as they embarked on these virtual farming adventures together.

Beyond his immediate family, Stetson was surrounded by the love and warmth of his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins from both sides of his family. He was embraced by the Murphy and Etzkorn clans, and he left an indelible mark on their hearts.

In the wider community, Stetson was known for his inquisitive nature and his ever-ready smile, which he would share with anyone who engaged with him. Golf cart excursions were a cherished pastime, and Stetson held the title of the “most pampered baby” at Huggy Bear Campgrounds, where he undoubtedly captured the hearts of many.

Stetson’s life may have been brief, but its impact was immeasurable. Even in his short time with us, he touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy continues as he shared the gift of life through organ donation.

A Celebration of Life Service for Stetson Etzkorn will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The services will be officiated by his great-uncle, Vincent Murphy.

Friends and well-wishers are invited to visit the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family kindly requests that attendees honor Stetson’s memory by wearing casual attire, particularly jeans and cowboy boots.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family, providing support and comfort during this challenging time. Stetson Etzkorn’s time with us was brief, but the love he shared and the joy he brought will forever live on in the hearts of those who cherished him.
