In September, the final song written and performed by late Bee Gees member Robin Gibb will be released.
The final tune on the new album to be put together by the musician’s wife and son will be Sydney, which he produced before his death in May 2012.
The album’s title will be 50 St Catherine’s Drive, after Gibb’s Isle of Man birthplace. His widow, Dwina, said that when she first heard his last work, it brought her to tears. She continued, “He cried when he wrote it.” The part of this song is sincere, melancholy, lovely, and incomplete.
Ms. Gibb testified that her husband stayed up late in their bedroom using a keyboard and some iPad software to write tunes. His brother is Barry and he had planned to produce the entire song in the studio, but ill health made this impossible.
When he closed his eyes, the three young brothers returned to Sydney, Australia, happily together, with many ambitions and plans for the future. He mourned the passing of his twin brother Maurice, but his spirit was still there. According to Ms. Gibb, of course the world has been influenced by their later works.
The 17-track CD, which includes captions for each song, has been put together by her and is scheduled for release on September 29.
Most of the autobiographical songs were composed between 2006 and 2008 but were never released. Gibb suffered several health problems before his death at the age of 62.
After experiencing stomach problems in April 2011, he postponed some shows in Brazil. After having bowel surgery for an unrelated problem later that year, he was found to have colon cancer. He was later diagnosed with liver cancer, endured chemotherapy and had surgery.
