Motorcyclist ‘Jesse Hester’ of Hammond Louisiana dies in Tangipahoa Parish accident

Hammond, LA – A somber atmosphere envelops Hammond, Louisiana, following the devastating news of the passing of 25-year-old Jesse Hester, a beloved resident who lost his life in a tragic wrong-way accident in Tangipahoa Parish. The accident, which occurred on Saturday, the 28th of October 2023, claimed the life of the young motorcyclist, leaving the community in mourning.

The incident took place around 3:00 a.m. on Interstate 12 near LA Highway 445, where Hester was traveling westbound in the left-eastbound lane on his 2022 Harley-Davidson. Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Hester sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, marking a tragic end to a promising life.

As authorities continue their investigation, routine toxicology samples were collected from both drivers involved in the crash to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. The driver of the Toyota involved in the collision escaped unharmed, emphasizing the fatal consequences of the unfortunate accident.

In a separate incident reported by the State Police, 74-year-old Robert Kimble, also from Hammond, lost his life in a single-car accident on Wednesday night on Interstate 55 near US Hwy 51. According to the report, Kimble was traveling northbound when he lost control of his vehicle, colliding with a guardrail. Sadly, Kimble, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, suffered severe injuries and later succumbed to them at the hospital.
