A stalwart member of the theatre community, Geoff’s involvement extended beyond the stage. He played pivotal roles on committees such as the Play Selection Committee, the Artistic Committee, and the Operations Committee. His wealth of knowledge, drawn from his extensive career in strategic and human resources management, as well as his involvement in professional stage, film, and television productions, enriched the OLT community.
Geoff Gruson’s leadership extended to his tenure as President of ACTRA Ottawa, showcasing his commitment to the broader entertainment industry. His extraordinary contributions were acknowledged in 2006–2007 when he received the Audrey Ashley Award from the Capital Critics Circle for his exceptional impact on the Ottawa theater industry.
Geoff’s prowess as a director and actor earned him accolades, including the EODL Best Director award for “Deliver’d from Nowhere” (2009) and the Theatre Ontario Best Production Award for “Dead Accounts” (2018). His commitment to excellence was further recognized in 2014 when he was inducted into the OLT Cornerstone.
