The suspect, identified as Kaomarion Kendricks, was also a student at Griffin High School, and this heartbreaking event has left the community shocked and saddened.

And I think gun laws just be a little stricter, especially with them getting into minor’s hands. It is very, very scary to think about,” neighbor Naulls said.”
The shooting occurred near Poplar St. and 5th St. on Saturday afternoon, close to the end of a football game. It was clarified that this was not a random shooting, as both the victim and the suspect knew each other. The incident did not take place within the football stadium, and Kendricks did not attend the football game.
In response to this tragic event, the Griffin-Spalding County School System has announced increased security measures in the high schools. The district emphasized their commitment to keeping school environments safe by utilizing weapons detection systems and having school resource officers in place.
