Dudley, MA – Dudley community is reeling from the heartbreaking loss of Julia Chapdelaine, daughter of ex-Area Vice President at Amedisys Home Health and Hospice Care, Kara Nelson Chapdelaine. Julia tragically passed away in a fatal car crash that occurred on Wednesday, November 30, leaving her family in deep mourning.
Justin White paid tribute and wrote on facebook,
“Julia Chapdelaine to say i’m at a loss for words would be an understatement. thank you for making me feel SEEN when i felt forgotten. from beach trips, to making sure we’re next to each other on the chorus risers, to that one dinner in orlando together where we could not stop laughing. there is so much memory in your name. I will never stop loving you. Fly higher than the stars you absolutely angel.”
Julia, a 2019 graduate of Shepherd Hill Regional High School in Dudley, Massachusetts, was known for her passion for sports, particularly Field Hockey, during her senior school years. Her life was cut short in a devastating vehicle collision involving a wrong-way driver.
Described as a loving and vibrant young woman by concerned community members, Julia was cherished for her humility, cheerfulness, and unwavering dedication. She was a beloved daughter, sister, and a hardworking individual, deeply admired by those who knew her.
The accident, occurring on the Maine Turnpike in Portland, involved a tragic sequence of events. Reports indicate that a Honda Civic, traveling in the wrong direction at high speed in the northbound lane close to mile 48, collided first with a Ford F-150 pickup truck, resulting in minor damage and no injuries to the truck’s driver.
Subsequently, the wrong-way driver collided head-on with a Toyota Rav4, resulting in a fiery crash that claimed three lives. The sole occupant of the Rav4, identified as Julia Chapdelaine, tragically lost her life at the scene. Both the wrong-way driver and a passenger in that vehicle also perished in the fiery collision.
Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the incident, and the identities of the three individuals, including Julia, are under review by the Augusta Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
