Ames, Iowa– The Ames community is in mourning following the heartbreaking loss of Jake DeVries, a cherished member known for his infectious laughter and vibrant spirit. His life was tragically cut short in a motor vehicle accident involving a semi-truck.

Jake, a proud native of Ames, epitomized the warmth of Iowa’s community. His endearing personality and unwavering humor made him a source of joy for many.

Jacob Charles DeVries died early Saturday morning, November 25, 2023 from injuries sustained in a car accident.Arrangements will be forthcoming. Jake touched many lives and will be missed by so very many people.”

The collision, occurring on Saturday, November 25, in Story County, resulted from DeVries driving north on Northeast 112th Street in Pleasant Hill. Failing to stop at an intersection, his vehicle collided with a semi-truck traveling east on Highway 163, claiming his life. DeVries was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

Fortunately, the driver of the involved semi-truck escaped the accident without sustaining any injuries.

The family will announce plans for Jake DeVries’ obituary and funeral arrangements.
