Gord Bamford, an Australian-Canadian country music artist, paid tribute to him on social media, uploading a few pictures and saying he remembers singing at Longview Hall and looking up then I saw someone standing in the doorway looking at me. He quickly realized it was Tyson and continued,
“He stood there singing a few songs and then disappeared. I went back to my dressing room after the performance and found him waiting there with drinks and food! “You are a very wonderful child,” he commented. Bamford expressed regret at not being able to speak to Tyson and ended by saying they had lost a legend and that his sympathies went out to Tyson’s family, friends and fans.

Ian Tyson, born September 25, 1933, first sang in 1956 at the Heidelberg Café in Vancouver. In 1959, he began performing with Sylvia Fricker before forming the musical group Ian & Sylvia in 1961.
