Mary Stauffer Wikipedia, Wiki, Story, Age, Scars, Cast – In 1980, she and her 8-year-old daughter were taken hostage at gunpoint and held captive for 53 days while being repeatedly raped. Mary Stauffer, a former teacher, discovered her torturer the second day after the kidnapping: Ming Sen Shiue, a former 9th grade math student 15 years ago.

When Mary, 36, is reminded of him by Shiue, 29, who had initially forgotten him, Mary remembers nothing ominous about him.

Very bright. a very capable student. Stauffer to PEOPLE: Simply an ordinary 9th grader.

Nothing about teenage Shiue’s behavior suggests that he would fall in love with Mary, spend years pursuing her, or that he would attempt to kidnap her at least four times before succeeding. Nothing could prepare Mary and her daughter Beth to face the horrors they would face when tied up inside Shiue’s home in Minnesota in a closet just 21 inches wide and 4 feet long for days.

Shiue, who murdered a six-year-old boy watching the kidnapping unfold, will sexually assault Mary while recording it and coerce her into compliance by threatening Beth. He constantly plays mind games with them, threatening to kill them and the rest of their family if they try to run away.

Every day, Mary recalls, “we wondered if it was our last.” We had little faith that we would survive unscathed.

Kidnapped: The Story of Mary Stauffer, which airs on Lifetime on Saturday, October 5 at 8/7 and stars Alyson Hannigan as Mary, focuses on their trauma. (An exclusive trailer for the film is shown above.) Mary claims that through telling her story on TV, other survivors can see that they’re not crazy and that their experiences don’t necessarily define them.

She claims that “many people have been through really terrible things; many women have been raped.” They must be shown that there is hope for the future.

Shiue declares to Mary that she ruined his life by giving him a B in algebra. As a result, he was unable to receive a scholarship to attend college and was forced to enlist in the Vietnam War, where he claimed to have ended up serving as a prisoner of war.

The truth is that Shiue attended the University of Minnesota and was dubbed “Most Likely to Succeed” by her high school classmates. After that, he opened a thriving electronics store. He was not a fighter in Vietnam.

Do you believe an angel will let us out of the closet?

Mary tried to convince Beth that it would all work out even though she was apprehensive about whether she would survive. Mary, a devoted Christian, would share Bible stories with Beth to help her stay optimistic, such as the story of the apostle Peter, who was imprisoned and was scheduled to be executed the next day but was saved instead when God sent an angel.

Do you think an angel will release us from the closet and allow us to return home, Beth asks? Mary reflected.

According to Beth, she and her mother went through a terrible situation and she realized it, but because she was young, “I didn’t have enough life experience to handle what was going on.”

“I never realized that [Mary] was raped during the kidnapping. I was protected from that, the woman claimed.

Now, Beth has few clear memories of her being a parent and grandparent, but most of her memories are a combination of what she actually experienced and what she was told happened next. She finds it annoying that Shiue uses her as a pawn “to control and manipulate my mother.”

When Shiue raped Mary, he once complained that she didn’t show any physical affection to him. He took Beth out of the closet and told Mary she would suffocate in a few minutes had she not covered her head with a plastic bag and placed it at her feet. After Mary kissed him on the mouth, he finally took it off.

Beth didn’t quite understand tragedy, but Mary did. She clings to her religious belief that, even if she doesn’t know how, things will work out for the best.

“Knowledge [what was happening] It is not our duty. She said it takes faith that God will solve this problem in His own way and in His own time.

Mary, who claims she’s not mechanically inclined, saw something about the way Shiue held them in place on their 53rd day of confinement while Shiue was at work: There was a cable between Mary and Beth, and the cable was fixed to the hinge pin on the closet door. Mary and Beth will be able to get out of the house if she can remove the hinge pin.

No one was more shocked than her when the hinge latch popped out as if it had been oiled when she took it off.

Mary identified herself when calling the police. They seem to be waiting for permanent help from the authorities. Because it was taking too long, Mary and Beth moved the waiting room to the backyard out of fear that Shiue would find them before the police arrived. He was very effective in making them believe that he was always keeping an eye on them, even when he wasn’t there. Two cars with no license plates pulled into the driveway as they hid in the dark behind an old car in the backyard.

Beth and Mary are on their way home. Shiue was later detained at her workplace.

At the trial, a kidnapper attacked Mary.

Shiue entered her husband’s house under the pretext that it belonged to Mary 5 years ago when he kidnapped Mary and Beth. He tied the pair up and pointed a gun at them, threatening to kill them if they called the police. Mary and her family didn’t know about the crime until after she was kidnapped because they were asked to obey.

They are terrorized by Shiue even though he is in captivity. He swore to Mary that if he was caught, he would track her down after her release from prison, and if she died, he would search for her children. He offered another inmate $50,000 to kill the two so they couldn’t testify against him while he was in jail awaiting trial.

While Mary is testifying at her and Beth’s kidnapping trial, Shiue gets up from her seat at the defense desk and attacks Mary, but he is stopped before he can hurt her. However, Shiue sneaked a knife into the courtroom during his trial for the murder of a six-year-old boy, Jason Wilkman, and lunged at Mary again while she was giving testimony, stabbing her in the face. 62 stitches are needed for the wound.

Shiue was eventually found guilty of killing Wilkman and kidnapping Mary and Beth. He was denied parole in 2010, and a judge ruled that he would spend the rest of his life in prison.

The family moved back to the Philippines to continue their Christian mission after the trials ended and media attention subsided. They were able to regain a sense of normalcy by leaving the United States. They realize they are not the only ones suffering because they are in a country with higher rates of poverty and crime.

Now, Mary and Beth are more content with the possibility of a happy life than, in Mary’s words, “living in that terrifying moment forever.”

According to Beth, Shiue said he only wanted to cause emotional harm. He took 53 days of our lives. Evil will prevail if I allow him to have another one, and I will not allow that to happen.

Beth and Mary are on their way home. Shiue was later detained at her workplace.
