Frank Gimpelj, well-know plumber, dies after battling with cancer: obituary

Hamilton, ON – Hamilton, Ontario, bids farewell to a beloved figure, Frank Gimpelj, known as “Big Frank” or “Frank the Plumber,” who passed away on Saturday, November 18th, 2023. His departure was shared through a poignant social media tribute, honoring his cherished presence in the lives of many.

The community mourns the loss of a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend. Frank Gimpelj’s absence will be deeply felt by his wife, children, and countless friends who treasured his companionship.

Frank’s battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, diagnosed in February 2021, was courageously fought for nearly three years. He faced numerous health challenges during his relentless fight against cancer, garnering immense support from close friends and the community. A fundraising campaign initiated a week before his passing exceeded its goal, raising $92,471 to assist his family, surpassing the set target of $75,000.

Frank Gimpelj, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in February of 2021. He has been fiercely fighting his battle with cancer for almost 3 years now. Sadly, Frank is losing his battle with cancer.

A visitation to pay respects and honor Frank’s memory will be held at Smith’s Funeral Home in Stoney Creek on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. A Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 3 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at St. Gregory the Great Slovenian Catholic Church in Hamilton. The community gathers to celebrate his life, marking the end of a remarkable journey, with cremation to follow.
