Chiang Mai nightclub scandal: Police found more than 242 minors using fake ids

In a shocking incident on Halloween night, five police officers from Chang Phueak Police Station have been reassigned following a scandal involving minors under 20 years old using fake identification to gain entry into a nightclub. The underage individuals were caught altering their birth dates on their national identification cards to bypass age restrictions. An investigation committee has been swiftly assembled to probe the matter.

Recent reports detail an administrative raid conducted at a nightclub situated on Sirinthon Road, Chang Phueak Sub-district, in Chiang Mai. During the operation, a staggering 242 minors were discovered inside the establishment. The nightclub was not only operating without a valid permit but was also found serving alcohol to underage patrons and operating beyond the permitted hours.

Law enforcement officers took immediate action, apprehending and prosecuting the club for multiple violations, including allowing minors onto the premises and providing them with alcohol.

Lieutenant Colonel Kritathapol Yisakorn, Region Five Police Deputy Director, announced that in the aftermath of the raid, orders were issued to transfer Kittipong Phetramoon, the Deputy Commander of Chang Phueak Police Station, and his deputies to the Chiang Mai Provincial Police Region. An inquiry committee has been established to delve into the incident and is expected to deliver its findings within 15 days, as reported by KhaoSod.

Lt. Col. Thawatchai Phongvivatchai, Chiang Mai Provincial Police Commander, revealed that the nightclub had been previously raided for similar offenses. Despite these actions, the establishment continued to operate discreetly. Minors gained entry by presenting manipulated ID card images, which misrepresented their birthdates, effectively making them appear of legal age. Notably, they bypassed official verification methods such as the Thai ID app or displaying authentic identification cards.

Investigations into these incidents are ongoing.
