Andrew Abbott’s career

Andrew started his swimming career in high school where he excelled. In swimming, he was selected four times to the Piedmont County All-Country First Team, twice named to the All-State team and four times received the All-County Piedmont title. He continued to play baseball in the meantime, and he was twice in a row captain for both his swimming and baseball teams.

During his high school athletic career, he won the All Piedmont Academic Team Award in baseball and swimming four times each. He then decided to pursue baseball, and in 2017 he was named North Zone Player of the Year and 5A of the Year.

Additionally, in 2016 and 2017, he was named Piedmont County Player of the Year and Conference 16 Player of the Year. He was selected by the New York Yankees in the 2017 MLB draft. and went on to win Gatorade Virginia’s Player of the Year and PBR’s Player of the Year awards in the same year.

In 2018, he decided to sign up for the Virginia Cavaliers, and American Baseball & College Baseball named him the newspaper’s All-American Freshman. With a stellar record and a record of six saves, the most in the ACC, he was also selected to the ACC Freshman Team.

He was named to the ACC’s all-academic team the following year in 2019, along with five other teammates, and as a sophomore, he beat 59 greats in 44 innings. He was selected as a pitcher for the US University National Team and successfully guided the team to make new marks.

He recently rose to #7 on D1 Baseball.com’s list of the 50 best college baseball pitchers, and this year, 2021, he’s named to the Newspapers’ Third Team. College Baseball All-American Pre-Season and Second Team Before-All-American Season.
