Xavier Smith charged for murder of Donte Noble in Oberlin shooting

Lorain, OH – A shooting incident in Lorain on Tuesday night resulted in the tragic death of 31-year-old Donte Noble from Lorain, with another man from Oberlin being arrested in connection to the incident.

Reports reveal that around 6:16 p.m., Oberlin police received multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots near the 100 block of South Pleasant Street. Upon arrival at 109 Pleasant Street, law enforcement found Noble, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. He was swiftly taken to Mercy Allen Hospital via Metro Life Flight but, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

Jalan Noble posted on Facebook,

“In celebration of the life of the Late Donte Noble Jr. My first cousin. Too soon for proper words to express this.Love you”

Authorities identified Noble as the victim of the shooting and discovered a weapon at the scene, as reported by the police. Following investigations, the arrest of a man from Oberlin was made in connection to the incident. The individual faced charges including three counts of murder and one count of felonious assault. Identified as Smith, the suspect appeared in Oberlin Municipal Court, represented by attorney John Toth. Smith was ordered to be held without bond at Lorain County Jail after the arraignment.

The police mentioned that the shooting was believed to have stemmed from an argument preceding the tragic incident.

In light of these events, a bond hearing for Smith is scheduled at the Oberlin Municipal Court on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Additionally, details regarding Donte Noble’s obituary and funeral arrangements will be released by the family. Noble was a graduate of Armwood High School.
