Wollongbar Tafe Shooting cause lockdown at TAFE NSW, Armed man on Bruxner

In a swift and coordinated effort, New South Wales (NSW) Police, along with ambulance services and helicopters, are currently responding to a reported active shooter situation unfolding this morning on Bruxner Highway. Multiple police units have been deployed to various locations along Bruxner Highway and TAFE NSW – Wollongbar after receiving alarming reports of an armed man on the loose, wielding a pistol.

A police helicopter is now actively monitoring the area where the suspect was last sighted, intensifying the efforts to apprehend the individual. In response to the escalating situation, TAFE NSW – Wollongbar has been placed under a hard lockdown, prompting residents to take shelter indoors and secure their doors and windows until law enforcement agencies declare the area safe.

Law enforcement authorities have taken additional precautions by closing the bypass from Ballina to Lismore, redirecting traffic through Rous Rd Tregeagle for those heading to Lismore. Bruxner Highway has also been shut down from Macleans Ridge to Pearces Creek Bridge. These measures aim to ensure the safety of the public while the situation unfolds.

This remains a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. The priority now is on the safety and security of the community as law enforcement works to resolve the active threat.
