On Saturday, June 17, 2023, 25-year-old Tara Schiphof from King, North Carolina, was elected as Miss Georgia 2023 after defeating 57 other candidates. The finale of the competition was held at the River Center for the Performing Arts in Columbus, Georgia.
Tara Schiphof received a belt, a title, and a $25,000 scholarship in addition to being declared Miss Georgia in 2023. Miss Georgia 2022 and the reigning Miss Kelsey Hollis honored the contestant. Kim Miss Capital. Tara is the state’s 21st winner of the Miss America 2024 pageant, and she will represent Georgia in that pageant. Interestingly, she entered the Miss Georgia Scholarship contest for the second time. She was named 1st runner-up last year.

Tara Schiphof was born in North Carolina to Melanie Oakley and Chris Schiphof, both of whom still live in King’s hometown. Tara attended Mount Olive Elementary School before transferring to Chestnut Grove High School. She was awarded the famous Stokes County Arts Council Scholarship, which enabled her to attend high school and then college.
Tara earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in classical dance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2019. She also plans to complete the Master of Science Program in Management at Wake Forest University’s School of Business in 2020. She is a member of the university dance team.
Tara Schiphof has been dancing since she was a child. She has done everything from performing with Dance Perfections to showing off her exceptional ballet skills at the Stokes Stomp, King Fest and Walnut Cove Festival in her hometown. She moved to Georgia to work with Stanley Black & Decker as a marketing specialist. Tara Schiphof won the Miss Macon pageant at the age of 23, her first time in the state.
#YesYouCan is Miss Georgia 2023’s community service program.
Miss Georgia 2023 stands out from the rest thanks to her community service project, #YesYouCan. It’s about overcoming the negativity that surrounds the concept of failure and giving it new meaning.
Tara said in her victory statement:
“Through #YesYouCan, I have been able to provide scholarships to students and help others develop the skills they need to persevere in the face of life’s toughest challenges.” I really want to change the way we think about failure and make it an opportunity to improve rather than a scary thing.”
She went on to say that one of the greatest aspects of her program is that everyone, regardless of age, background or demographics, can connect and benefit from it. She went on to say that she plans to spread it throughout Georgia schools. Tara also attributes her victory to her own perseverance, saying:
“When I was 11 years old, I realized the value of persistence because I entered a contest and it took me nine years to win.” It taught me how to politely fail and succeed with modest goals. It taught me why the trip is so much more important than the goal.”
On the same day as Miss Georgia 2023, Miss Georgia Teen 2023 was crowned.
Miss Georgia 2023 Tara Schiphof was the winner, although Miss Spirit of the South Julia DeSerio was the 1st runner up. Miss Atlanta Audrey Kittila was named 2nd runner up, Miss Cobb County Ludwidg Louizaire was named runner up. runner-up and Miss West Georgia Taylor Burrell were honored as 4th runner-up. On the same evening, Miss Georgia Teen 2023 was crowned. Cobb County’s Charlie Key was the winner.
Tara, as previously announced, will represent the state of Georgia in the Miss America 2024 pageant. Miss America 2024 will be the 96th edition of the pageant. The official date and location of the event has yet to be revealed.
