Jude Walton, former police commissioner and head of employee experience for Avalon Housing, has passed away. When police went to the home of native Ann Arbor for a welfare check, they discovered her dead body. Her death occurred when she was 51 years old. Her death is currently being investigated as a homicide. Police were called to Jude Walton’s home on Chapin Street at 1:30 p.m. Thursday after her employer reported she had not come to work. She was last seen by a neighbor at 8pm the night before.

Ann Arbor’s interim police chief, Aimee Metzer, said in a press release that there were “clear indications that this was a homicide.” According to police, the suspect entered the house through the back window. Metzer stated:

“Most of the house appears to be in normal condition, with no signs of a large amount of furniture being taken or damaged.”

Walton is known as a “pillar in the community” for his charitable activities and supporting the homeless. At the time of writing, the official cause of death has not been revealed. She had spent the previous 14 years with the group Ann Arbor. The nonprofit pays tribute to its former employees on its official Facebook page. They wrote about her character on the internet:

“Jude is a wonderful, caring, kind, funny, talented, intelligent, humble and insightful person. She’s the person we all turn to when we’re having a hard time at work. It’s hard to picture Avalon without her. We mourn this incalculable loss.”

Jude Walton loves photography and is an amateur photographer in her spare time. At the time of writing, there have been no arrests related to Jude Walton’s death.
