Huw Edwards’ wife, Vicky Flind, spoke on his behalf in a statement, identifying him as a BBC broadcaster who is being accused of receiving money for pornographic pictures.
“After five very trying days for our family, and based on recent news surrounding the ‘BBC Presenter’, I am making this statement on behalf of my husband, Huw Edwards.
“I am doing this mainly to protect our kids and to protect his mental health. “Huw has serious mental health issues. He had just been treated for severe depression, as everyone knows.
He has gone through another critical period and is currently receiving inpatient care at the hospital, where he will remain for the foreseeable future. Events of the past few days have significantly worsened the situation. He plans to respond to published articles when he is well enough to do so.
Apparently, Huw learned about the accusations against him for the first time last Thursday. “I would like to ask that the privacy of my family and others involved in these traumatic events be respected, considering Huw’s circumstances and condition.
“I know that Huw truly regrets that recent media conjectures have affected so many of his colleagues. We anticipate that this statement will cease as such.
