Graham Mortensen, hailing from Auckland, NZ, received the esteemed Technical d’Honneur and sadly passed away. His sudden demise has left his family and a multitude of admirers engulfed in deep sorrow, mourning the loss of a luminous presence.
The legacy of Mortensen, as an exceptional racer and an exceptional individual, will endure in the memories of everyone fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
Wayne Christie, President of MotorSport New Zealand, expressed deep sorrow, stating, “We are profoundly saddened by Graham’s passing. Our thoughts are with Graham’s family and the broader motorsport community during this challenging time.”
Graham’s involvement in motorsport dates back nearly five decades, starting in the early 1970s. He began humbly as a flag and pitlane marshal, later serving in various volunteer roles and eventually ascending to the esteemed position of senior Clerk of the Course and steward.

In 2022, Graham was honored as the Clerk of the Course D’Honneur by MotorSport New Zealand, recognizing his exceptional contributions and leadership in ensuring the success of motorsport events.
At the Auckland Car Club, Graham dedicated significant time to administrative duties, contributing immensely to the club’s operations. His invaluable service led to his induction into the Auckland Car Club Roll of Honour and granted him a life membership.
Graham Mortensen was an unsung hero within the Auckland Car Club, diligently working behind the scenes for years, supporting administrative functions, and actively participating in motorsport events.
His commitment extended to serving in various official capacities at rallies, races, and as Vice-President of the club’s Executive Committee, showcasing his dedication and passion for Motorsports.
