Trenten Montero accident: Nevada bareback rider passes away after rodeo accident

Nevada’s rodeo community is in mourning as news emerges of the passing of esteemed bareback rider, Trenten Montero. The 28-year-old Montero lost his life due to injuries sustained during a rodeo mishap at the Owyhee County Rodeo in Homedale, Idaho earlier this month.

Friends and family took to social media to confirm Montero’s unfortunate demise and express their heartfelt condolences for the talented rider. The incident that led to the tragedy occurred on August 10, 2023, right after Montero clinched second place at the rodeo event. As he dismounted from his horse, it suddenly fell and rolled over him.

The impact left Montero with severe injuries, including lacerations to his spleen and pancreas, fractured ribs, a collapsed lung, and damage to his aorta. Despite walking away from the field initially, he found himself struggling to breathe and was rushed to Saint Alphonsus Trauma Center in Boise, Idaho.

Renowned rodeo journalist Kendra Santos shared updates on Montero’s condition through an Instagram post, urging the rodeo community to rally around him in prayer. She conveyed the urgency of the situation and emphasized the need for positive thoughts and support.

In the wake of Montero’s passing, an outpouring of tributes flooded the internet, underscoring his significant role in the rodeo community. Cowboys with a Mission, a non-profit organization, remembered him as an exceptional bareback instructor who brought kindness, joy, and humor to his teaching. Montero is survived by his parents, siblings, wife, and a three-week-old son named Noah.

Yuma Silver Spur Rodeo, deeply saddened by the loss, asked for prayers for Montero’s family and friends as they come to terms with this tragedy.
