A man in his 30s has been apprehended by Gardaí in relation to an assault that occurred last night in Clonakilty’s Sand Quay. The incident, reported around 11:30 p.m., prompted law enforcement’s swift response to assist a male victim in his 20s.
The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries at Cork University Hospital following the assault.
Gardaí have refrained from releasing the identities of both the victim and the suspect involved in the altercation.
According to a Gardaí spokesperson, the apprehended individual is currently held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Gardaí station in West Cork. Concurrently, the Divisional Scenes of Crime section is conducting a technical inspection at the site where the incident took place. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
