American actor, comedian, talk show host and panelist Richard Dawson was born in Gosport on November 20, 1932. Richard Dawson, an English-American actor, comedian and panelist , hosted the game show Family Feud. He rose to fame and won the coveted Emmy Award because of how successful the show was.
He served in the British Merchant Navy before starting his career as a stand-up comedian. He first appeared on British radio and television, then moved to America and took up small jobs there. His breakout role was Cpl. Peter Newkirk on the CBS sitcom Hogan’s Heroes.
During the show’s six seasons, Richard Dawson was ubiquitous. As a regular panelist of the game show Match Game, he also has a major role in broadcasting.
Richard Dawson starred alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and others in various films, the most famous of which was The Running Man. Film critics praised his performance.

Early life
Richard Dawson Emm was born to Josephine and Arthur Emm on November 20, 1932 in Gosport, England. Josephine Emm, his mother, worked at an arms factory and Arthur Emm, his father, was a van driver. His brother, John Leslie Emm, is a successful businessman.
Even as children, he and his brother had to run away from home to avoid bombs during World War II. As a result, he can only stay at the school for a limited time.

Richard Dawson fled at a very young age and served three years in the British Merchant Navy. After finishing his time as a laundromat, he continued working as a waiter. To earn more money at the time, he decided to join amateur boxing.
Dickie Dawson was his new identity as he began performing stand-up comedy at London’s West End venues, such as the legendary Stork Room, after serving in the maritime merchant. Richard Dawson is his adult name now.
In 1954, he appeared as a guest on How Do You Do? and Midday Music Hall on BBC radio and on the Benny Hill Showcase on BBC television.
