Prisma Health CFO Dr. Bryan Mciver passes away in car accident

In a tragic incident, the medical community is grieving the loss of Dr. Bryan McIver, Chief Medical Officer for Prisma Health Medical Group, who passed away on Saturday, December 16, at the age of 63. Dr. McIver suffered a severe accident, leading to his untimely death.

Dr. Bryan McIver was widely recognized as a distinguished authority on thyroid cancer, holding a doctorate in physiology and biophysics. His most recent position was Deputy Physician-in-Chief at Moffitt Cancer Center, where he provided invaluable support to the medical group.

Having completed his training at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. McIver spent over a decade working there before joining Moffitt. His significant contributions to the field focused on improving the accuracy of diagnosing thyroid nodules through the application of genetic and molecular approaches.

The medical community is deeply saddened by the loss of a respected figure who dedicated his career to advancing knowledge and treatment in the field of thyroid cancer.

A funeral service for Dr. Bryan McIver will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 1:00 pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 2827 Wheat Street, Columbia, South Carolina. A Celebration of Life is also planned in Tampa, Florida, at a later date. The family is receiving assistance from the Devine Street Chapel of Dunbar Funeral Home.
