Prince Stash Klossowski News

Many things have defined Brian Jones. He was the original frontman and founding member of the Rolling Stones. He’s a skilled musician who can pick up an instrument he’s not familiar with and start playing it within hours. He used to be the advertising guy for British youth, whose pheromones were on the rise with new rock and blues music.

And after his death on July 3, 1969, at the age of 27, he became a legend. However, Jones can also be intimidating, mocking allies and enemies alike, and has a wicked sense of humor that can cut deep into the souls of those who are physically weaker. He is both loved and hated. But he always stands out.

Since the night Brian Jones died at his Cotchford Farm residence in Sussex, England, his death has remained a mystery. Over the past 50 years, numerous articles and books have been written about it in an attempt to prove one theory or another as to why this singer died at the time that he did.

And now, in Rolling Stone: Life & Death Of Brian Jones, filmmaker Danny Garcia has added his two cents to the mix. A two-hour documentary that was only showing in select theaters earlier this year is now available on DVD. It also includes additional behind-the-scenes material, deleted scenes, and a unique extended interview with journalist Scott Jones, who discusses in depth the released police files.

The first half of the film develops a portrait of the realistic Brian Jones by tracing his formative years from Cheltenham through to his early years in London. The remaining participants include friend Prince Stash, photographers Gered Mankowitz and Terry O’Neill, tour manager Sam Cutler, ex-girlfriend ZouZou, Pretty Things singer Phil May, who passed away in May. , the music writers and several others are somehow connected with Jones and the Stones, although there is no actual talk of the Rolling Stones in the film. These dubs were provided by the late Ian “Stu” Stewart and taken from older interviews.

As it tries to peel away the many layers of Jones as a person and an artist, his downfall as both, and his death as a murder, it makes up an interesting watch because it puts the spotlight on Jones — not Jagger, not Richards. The decision to believe him or not is up to the viewer and Stones fans.

When Jones was first arrested by the authorities in May 1967, Prince Stanislaus Klossowski De Rola, Baron De Wtteville, was there. After meeting in Paris while Stash was playing in Vince Taylor’s band and they were sharing the bill with the Stones, they became close friends.
