Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating a tragic incident at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) after a body was discovered in Peck Hall on Wednesday morning, November 1, 2023. The authorities have confirmed that the incident appears to be a case of suicide by shooting, and have ruled out the possibility of murder.
In response to the situation, a significant police presence has been deployed to Peck Hall at 537 Old Main Circle, Murfreesboro, TN. MTSU has also issued an official statement confirming the closure of Peck Hall until further notice, with classes canceled until noon while the authorities continue their investigation.
The MTSU Police Department has assured the campus community that there is no imminent threat to the campus. They have further announced that classes scheduled before noon in Peck Hall have been canceled, while classes scheduled after 12 pm will proceed as planned. They urge students and staff to remain calm and cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
