Pablo Lyle, a Mexican actor, was sentenced to 5 years in prison, 8 years of probation and 500 hours of community service on Friday, February 3, 2023, for beating a man to death in a street scuffle. During a street scuffle in Miami, Florida in April 2019, Pablo Lyle got into a fight with 63-year-old Juan Ricardo Hernandez. The person was previously believed to have assaulted Hernandez, causing him to fall and hit his head on the street.
The man appeared to have brain damage and died four days later at a nearby hospital. Lyle was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the October 2022 murder. Lyle is a Mexican telenovela performer best known for appearing in La Sombra Del Pasado and Yankee. According to the Associated Press, he has been jailed since his conviction last October.
Hernandez’s loved ones were also in the courtroom, one holding his face in prayer.

Hernández’s son demanded that Pablo Lyle receive a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
According to ABC, Pablo Lyle risks up to 15 years in prison. Lyle’s defense argued that he punched Hernandez in self-defense because he was with his children at the time of the incident and feared the 63-year-old was armed. On the other hand, Hernandez was found unarmed. Lyle’s defense team requested a new trial soon after his conviction in October, but Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez dismissed the suggestion. She claims that the security video of the event, which shows Lyle approaching Hernandez and hitting him, proves he was the main aggressor. Tinkler said,
“Evidence shows that Mr. Lyle’s actions were violent. Mr. Lyle must be held accountable for his actions.”
Juan Ricardo Hernández Jr., Hernandez’s son, wants the court to sentence Lyle to a maximum sentence of 15 years. He testified in court that he was there when his father died. Furthermore, the victim’s son claimed to have seen his father shortly after he was hospitalized, where he died 4 days later.
Hernandez Junior stated:
“I refuse to believe it’s him.”
Mercedes Arce, the victim’s fiancee, said:
“I know (Pablo Lyle)’s aim is not to kill him, but anything can happen in a moment. Every action has consequences.”
In response to pleas from the victim’s family for maximum punishment, Tinkler said that neither party was satisfied with her decision:
“This was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. No one here will be satisfied. No one here will ever forget the agony this has caused.”
According to Fox News, Pablo Lyle has officially apologized to the victim’s family for his behavior during the trial, saying:
“I am really sorry. I do not stop praying for him and for you from the bottom of my heart.”
According to the Miami Herald, the trial was closely watched by the Latin American community.
