Offset has confirmed that he is not biologically related to Quavo or the late rapper Migos Takeoff, despite being commonly referred to as their cousin. This revelation came in a recent interview with Variety.
In childhood, the three of them were classmates and started spending more time together in sixth grade. It was during Quavo’s mother’s basement outings that they developed the “flow trio” that made them superstars.
While reminiscing about his growing up, Offset shared how his father was absent during his childhood, “nowhere to be found”. Instead, he relied on strong female voices to raise him. “A woman can take you somewhere you can’t go on your own,” he says. “You always need that guidance, like from that mother or that grandmother. It’s my key to motivating and driving my car. Strong women will put you in strong positions.
Additionally, he discussed his early dancing skills, which led to him appearing in music videos for Whitney Houston and TLC when he was still a kid. “I started doing this when I was a kid by accident,” he said. “My mom pulled up like, ‘Hey, when the music comes on, dance!’ I was 8 years old and was cast in a Whitney video. That is so big. So it’s a reminder: I always think about my past to remind myself, ‘This damn thing is going to be okay.’ That’s how I’m in the pocket.
