A devastating incident shook the community of Katy as a woman, Nityadevi Ramroop, was found fatally shot by her estranged husband, who later took his own life in what authorities are investigating as a murder-suicide. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a distressing scene near the 3100 block of Upland Springs Trace on Tuesday, where they discovered the lifeless body of the 35-year-old victim in the driveway. Additionally, a 25-year-old woman, who had been stabbed, was found at the location and promptly taken to the hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Sgt. Gregory Pinkins, the incident unfolded as the victim was leaving work and was confronted by her estranged husband. The perpetrator reportedly stabbed the 25-year-old and then fatally shot Nityadevi before breaking into the house. The authorities later found the suspect, who had initially fled the scene, deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound nearby.
In the wake of this tragic incident, authorities have urged individuals facing domestic violence situations to seek immediate help from organizations such as the Houston Area Women’s Center and AVDA. The family of Nityadevi Ramroop is expected to release further details regarding her obituary and funeral arrangements at a later date, allowing the community to come together in remembrance and support.
