Michael Olszyk, Metro North conductor, passes away unexpectedly

Born on a memorable Christmas Eve in 1989 to Peter and Deborah Rimmer Olszyk, Michael brought joy and unity to his family, consolidating their bond into one loving unit. Following in the footsteps of family tradition, he embarked on a successful career as a conductor for Metro North, dedicating a significant portion of his life to the profession. He also actively participated in the Association of Commuter Rail Employees (ACRE), contributing to the betterment of the community.

With an unwavering passion for baseball, Michael’s talent and dedication shone through from a young age. His journey in the sport began with AAU baseball, subsequently leading him to excel at Hill Regional Career High School (All-State 2x) and Suffield Academy during his high school years. He continued to demonstrate his prowess at Sacred Heart University (Rookie of the Year) and the University of Bridgeport during his college years. Even beyond his formal education, he remained deeply engaged with various men’s leagues in the Greater New Haven area, keeping the spirit of the game alive.
