A devastating collision between a car and an Amish cart in Sumner Township, Minnesota, on Monday has left a community in mourning. The crash tragically claimed the lives of two young children and left two others injured. The incident occurred close to County Road 1 around 8:30 a.m., just a few hundred feet away from a road sign warning of slow-moving vehicles.
The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the collision resulted in the immediate loss of two lives: two occupants of the Amish cart and their horse. The identities and conditions of the victims remained unknown at the time of the report. Two additional individuals involved in the accident sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
In response to this heartbreaking tragedy, Matthew Kissack has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to provide support to Menno Miller, who is grappling with the devastating loss of two of his youngest daughters, while his other daughter and son remain hospitalized. According to Kissack, the children were struck from behind while traveling in their Amish buggy on their way to school that fateful morning. The campaign aims to assist the grieving family during this challenging time, and any contributions are deeply appreciated.
In a separate incident, the identities of three individuals who lost their lives in a tragic accident involving an SUV pinned between two semitrailers have been released. Robert and Linda Correll, both 65, of Ham Lake, and Shirley Gatke, 89, of Blaine, were tragically found deceased on Friday afternoon along Interstate 94 in Moorhead, Minnesota, approximately 2 miles from the North Dakota border.
Bar M Horse Ranch shared his sorrow on the death of Menno Miller. He stated that:
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” Mark 10:14With broken hearts, we ask for prayers for our dear friends Menno and Sarah Miller. Menno and Sarah tragically lost 2 precious children Monday morning. Wilma and Irma. To know these girls was to love them.We feel blessed to have known Wilma and Irma. They radiated pure joy and light. Please keep Menno and his family in your prayers. May the lord hold you close in this awful time of grief. Your friends, Tom and Jamiehttps://gofund.me/91be6eec
Shirley Gatke, also known as Gatkze Correll, was the mother of Linda Correll, according to relatives. The Corrells shared a loving marriage of 44 years. The accident unfolded in a work zone, where both the SUV and a semitrailer operated by a 58-year-old Wells man came to a halt. Tragically, a second semitrailer rear-ended the SUV, causing it to collide with the first semitrailer.
The communities affected by these heartbreaking incidents are left to grapple with the immense pain of losing loved ones and supporting those who have been injured. These tragedies serve as poignant reminders of the importance of road safety and vigilance on the highways.
