Lovisa Arnesson – The Pennsylvania State University community is reeling from the heartbreaking loss of one of its own, Lovisa Arnesson-Cronhamre, a student who tragically passed away on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023. Her life was cut short in a devastating accident when she was struck by a car while jogging. The university, together with her family and friends, mourns the loss of this bright and promising young individual.
The confirmation of Lovisa Arnesson-Cronhamre’s passing came through a statement released by Wyatt DuBois, the university spokesperson, who expressed profound sadness, saying, “We are heartbroken over the tragic loss of Lovisa Arnesson-Cronhamre, and we send our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.”
According to reports, the State College Police Department detailed the tragic incident, which occurred in the 200 block of East Park Avenue at 8 p.m. on that fateful Tuesday. The police report indicates that a vehicle traveling westbound on the road veered into the oncoming travel lane, resulting in a collision with Lovisa Arnesson-Cronhamre. She was a 25-year-old doctoral student from Sweden, specializing in architectural engineering.
At the time of the accident, Lovisa was jogging on the sidewalk. Following the collision, she was quickly transported first to Mount Nittany Medical Center and subsequently to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Altoona. Tragically, despite medical efforts, she succumbed to the injuries sustained during the accident, as confirmed by the State College Police Department in their official statement.
At the scene of the accident, a blue car was observed within the courtyard area behind Holmes Hall. Notably, the rear end of the vehicle appeared to have incurred more significant damage than the front. It’s crucial to emphasize that, based on available information, alcohol and/or drug usage is not believed to have played a role in causing the crash. Nevertheless, the investigation into this incident remains ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with relevant information to promptly report it to the State College Police Department.
