The Quilligan family in Port Talbot, Neath Port Talbot, United Kingdom, is grieving the sudden and tragic loss of their beloved sister, Lisa Quilligan, a wife and mother of three beautiful children. Lisa passed away tragically over the weekend due to complications arising from weight loss surgery. The cheerful woman was pronounced dead following her travels to Turkey for the bariatric surgery.
In the wake of this devastating incident, a family member has expressed concerns for individuals considering weight loss surgery abroad. Lisa was in good health before deciding to travel to Turkey for the surgery.
Michael Quilligan shared,
“Please every one don’t let yer children or women go to Turkey for waight loss surgery my sister was a healthy woman before she went to Turkey now my lovely sister gone now from us.”
Weight loss surgeries rarely result in a patient’s death, according to the NIDDK (National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases). However, complications and side effects can arise, including issues with nutrient absorption, gallstones, hernias, strictures, and changes in alcohol metabolism.
Lisa Quilligan, a vibrant soul, will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the community. Her untimely passing serves as a reminder of the risks associated with medical procedures and the importance of thorough consideration and information before opting for surgeries, especially those performed abroad.
The Quilligan family, along with the community, mourns Lisa’s loss and stands together during this challenging time. May Lisa rest in peace.
