Cambridge, MN – A devastating rollover crash in Springvale Township, Isanti County, has left the community grieving the loss of Lily Wilson, a 34-year-old resident of Cambridge. The accident, which occurred on Saturday, October 28, 2023, has sent shockwaves through the area, prompting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
At approximately 10:29 PM on that fateful Saturday night, Isanti County Dispatch received a distressing call regarding a single-vehicle rollover near the intersection of County Road 6 NW and Blackfoot Street NW in Springvale Township.
Responding swiftly to the call, Isanti County Deputies arrived at the scene, where they were met with a heart-wrenching sight. A female passenger had been forcibly ejected from the vehicle, her vital signs absent, and her breathing ceased.
Deputies and members of the Dalbo Fire Department initiated immediate life-saving measures in a desperate attempt to save the young woman’s life. Tragically, despite their courageous efforts, Lily Wilson, a 34-year-old Cambridge resident, succumbed to her injuries at the accident site.
While the driver of the vehicle survived the harrowing crash, they sustained severe injuries and were promptly transported to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, their injuries, although serious, were ultimately deemed non-life-threatening.
Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on County Road 6 when it left the road, entered the north side ditch, and subsequently rolled over multiple times. In light of the nature of the crash, the male driver of the vehicle now faces serious charges, including Criminal Vehicular Homicide and 3rd Degree Driving While Impaired (DWI). He is currently in custody at the Isanti County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings.
