“Last evening, I was walking in to sit down at dinner and got a message followed by a phone call that completely rocked me deep to my core. One of the most big and kind hearted souls that I have met was called home to be with the Lord last night. Johnny Davis, a close and personal friend to many from his years at Richmond Dragway and one of the greatest men that I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet. There was not a time that went by that he didn’t have a smile on his face and greeted everyone with a positive attitude and a positive comment, even in the toughest of times. To know Johnny was to love Johnny and if ya didn’t know him, you still loved him for all that he did for our sport and for being a poster child family man that we should all strive to be.To the Davis family, all of us at VMP are deep in our prayers for your family and we extend our deepest and sincere condolences in this time.”
Brandon Terry stated:
This is so hard to process. I woke up this morning and found out that Johnny Davis had passed away.To say Johnny was one of the good ones is an understatement. He was one of the greatest people I’ve ever known. The way he lead his life was so impressive that it was hard not to notice.First and foremost he was a family man devoted to his kids and so in love with his wife. He loved so big that I know he poured enough love into them to last a lifetime. My heart truely aches for Allison Davis , Brandon Davis, his children and his family. As business man he was equally impressive. He always made the right moves at the right time. When he spoke he commanded the room. He listened and reacted with reason, purpose and integrity. The way Johnny spoke and the story or message he was telling would draw you in, he was the kind of guy you could listen to for hours.Johnny would always greet me with a huge smile from cheek to cheek and say “Whats Happening BT” or “How’s BT today” His smile and happy spirit would change a room when he entered.Johnny we are gonna miss you down here friend. The hole that’s left from your absence is enormous and no one can fill it like you did. This is all still so hard to believe. Life is so short which you must have known more then all of us, because you lived your life to the fullest everyday. We all have so much to learn from you. If I can say in the end that I was half the person, Christian, father, family guy and business man you were then i can say I’ve made it. You truely were one of a kind. Until we meet again I’ll be listening to videos of you announcing our list races. Because once again you were the best at that too !!Fly high friend, I’ll see you again. Hopefully you will be at the gates announcing my arrival when I get there 💔
