Jeremy Butts from Midland passes away unexpectedly: obituary

Midland, TX – The sudden passing of Jeremy Butts on Friday, December 1, 2023, has left a profound impact on the hearts of many. His unexpected demise has prompted an outpouring of condolences and tributes, reflecting the deep affection and respect he garnered in the community.

Jeremy Butts, born on June 10, 1980, in Victoria, Texas, became an integral part of the Midland community since his relocation in 1982. He was a graduate of Midland Christian School and further pursued his education at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas.

On December 15, 2001, Jeremy married Jennifer Sturgill, commencing a beautiful love story that resulted in their five sons: Riley, Landon, Kayden, Hudson, and Sutton. Known for his infectious sense of humor, Jeremy was affectionately crowned the “king of dad jokes” by his adoring sons.

Professionally, Jeremy made significant contributions to the oilfield industry, working with esteemed companies such as Halliburton, Dynamic Drilling Fluids, DBM Drilling Fluids, Geo Drilling Fluids, and Panther Drilling Fluids. His expertise in drilling fluids earned him admiration and respect across the industry.

In addition to his professional commitments, Jeremy actively contributed to the Greenwood community by coaching youth sports, instilling a love for sports in aspiring athletes.

Jeremy’s faith was a cornerstone of his life, having accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of nine. He was an active member of Kelview Heights Baptist Church, dedicating his time to teaching Sunday School and positively impacting the youngest members of the congregation.

Jeremy is survived by his devoted wife, Jennifer Butts, their five sons, his parents, David and Roy Lesa Butts, and his brother, Joe David Butts, along with extended family members.

The family invites friends and well-wishers to honor Jeremy’s life at a visitation on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Branch at Nalley Pickle Welch. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Kelview Heights Baptist Church, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery.
