The soccer community and residents of Florida, New York, are in mourning after the sudden passing of James “Jim” Lagarde Jr., co-owner of Primo Sports Center. Jim, a passionate soccer enthusiast, unexpectedly departed on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the age of 50. His family confirmed the heartbreaking news through a poignant social media post that expressed their deep love and cherished memories of him.

Born on January 30, 1973, in Manhattan to Carole Lagarde and the late James Lagarde Sr., Jim’s life revolved around his love for soccer. His journey began at Burke Catholic High School, where he played the sport he adored. In 2007, he established Primo Sports Center in Florida, New York, becoming a guiding light for numerous soccer players throughout the Hudson Valley.

Jimmy’s influence extended beyond playing fields; he served as the Director of Coaching at Primo FC and later continued his coaching career at Cedar Stars Academy—Hudson Valley. His expertise and dedication were recognized with the highest coaching credential and award in the United States, the NSCAA Master Coach designation. He also held several other coaching certifications, showcasing his commitment to the sport and his players.

In addition to his professional achievements, Jim was a devoted family man, survived by his loving wife Tara and their children Zemi, Colin, Trevor, and Madison. He was also dearly loved by his siblings Tara Aiken, Renee Lagarde, and Chris Lagarde.

The community will come together to remember Jim at a visitation scheduled for Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 3-7 p.m. at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A service honoring his memory will commence at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mental Health Association in Orange County, Inc., a cause close to Jim’s heart.
