James Vogel obituary: 71-years-old man passes away in Leesburg, VA

Leesburg, Virginia – is mourning the loss of a cherished community member, James Vogel, who peacefully passed away at the age of 71 on Thursday, September 28th, 2023. Surrounded by love, he spent his final moments at home, in the company of his partner, Barbara Shea-Kutt, and their faithful dog, Mysty. James was just days away from celebrating his 72nd birthday when he departed this world. His family shared the sad news through an obituary page, which was subsequently posted on social media by Loudoun Club 12.

Fondly known as “Jimmy V,” James L. Lawrence Willard Vogel was born to parents Rosemarie (McDaniel) Vogel and Vogel on October 8, 1951. Throughout his life in Leesburg, he was an active and engaged member of the community. His love for music was boundless, encompassing all genres. He became an ardent supporter of Virginia Tech during his time there, particularly passionate about Hokie sports, including football, baseball, and basketball. Among his hobbies were collecting glass bottles, stamps, and baseball cards. An avid lover of nature, he cherished road trips, hikes, and spending time in the great outdoors, often accompanied by his beloved animals.

Jimmy’s infectious humor endeared him to nearly everyone he met. He was also a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous, reflecting his commitment to personal growth and recovery. In addition to his community involvement, he was a loving father to his son, Jesse Vogel, and daughter, Jordan Vogel Young (Allen). He shared his life with his cherished companion, Barbara Shea-Kutt, while his brother, Ron Vogel, affectionately referred to him as “Jimmy.”
