Jacob Moler, 25-year-old, dies in Hamilton construction machinery accident: Obituary

The community is grieving the loss of Jacob Moler, a beloved resident of Mt. Orab, who tragically lost his life in a construction equipment accident in Hamilton. The accident also left Damion Winkler, a resident of Eaton, injured and in a coma. The accident occurred near the intersection of Old Oxford Road, Hamilton Richmond Road, and Main Street.

Jacob Moler, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple traumatic injuries. He was operating the construction equipment at the time of the accident. Damion Winkler, the other victim, was transported to Kettering Hospital and remains in a coma with several broken bones and a brain bleed.

“This is one of the most difficult posts I’ve ever made. If everyone could please keep my family in your prayers. My brother passed away in a tragic work accident this evening. He was my very best friend and I’m just at a loss for words.”

Shawna Cain, a close friend of Shannon, Damion’s wife, shared that Shannon asked her to place a wreath of flowers at the accident site, as she couldn’t leave her husband’s side in the hospital. Shannon wanted to pay respects to Moler, showcasing her selflessness during this difficult time.

Moler’s family and friends remember him as a caring and kind individual who was passionate about the Bengals, music, and spending time with loved ones. He was a graduate of Georgetown High School and a member of the Local Labors Union 265 Cincinnati. His sudden loss has left a void in the lives of all who knew him.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office, along with police from Hamilton, West Chester, and Middletown, responded to the accident. Multiple witnesses called 911, describing the severity of the accident. OSHA has initiated a formal investigation into the incident.

A GoFundMe campaign has been started to assist Damion Winkler’s family in caring for his three children, emphasizing his role as the main provider for his family.

Jacob Moler’s funeral services will be held on Monday, October 09, 2023, at Megie Funeral Home in Mt. Orab, Ohio, where friends and family will come together to honor and remember the life of a young man gone too soon.
