Hillcrest HS Defensive Linebacker Robert Baldwin Jr dies in fatal stabbing in Conecuh County

Conecuh County, Alabama – A tragic incident on Thursday night claimed the life of Robert Baldwin Jr., an 18-year-old student and dedicated Defensive Linebacker at Hillcrest High School. The Conecuh County Coroner’s Office confirmed Baldwin’s identity after he succumbed to stab wounds following an attack on Highway 83 in the West Side community.

The distressing episode unfolded on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at approximately 7:32 p.m. when authorities received a distressing 911 call reporting a stabbing along Highway 83 in the West Side community. Emergency Medical Services swiftly transported Baldwin to Evergreen Medical Center, where despite efforts, he was pronounced deceased at 7:56 p.m.

Conecuh County Coroner’s Office, upon notification, confirmed the tragic demise of Robert Baldwin Jr., an Evergreen resident, indicating the need for further investigation. The teenager is set to undergo an autopsy at The Department of Forensic Science in Mobile, scheduled for Friday.

Conecuh County Coroner’s Office posted on Facebook,

“On Thursday, December 7,2023 at 1932 hours, a 911 call was dispatched reporting a person stabbed on Highway 83 in the West Side community. Conecuh County EMS transported the patient to Evergreen Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Conecuh County Coroner’s office was contacted and can confirm Robert Baldwin Jr age 18, of Evergreen, suffered stab wounds and was pronounced dead at 1956.“His family has been notified and he will be transported to The Department of Forensic Science in Mobile on Friday for autopsy. The death remains under investigation by this office and the Evergreen Police Department.”

Authorities from the Conecuh County Coroner’s Office, in collaboration with the Evergreen Police Department, have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Baldwin’s untimely death, which remains ongoing.
