In The CW’s Walker: Independence pilot, Matt Barr and Greg Hovanessian (Another Life) will both star in the series.
The new hour-long project is a Walker origin story that takes place in the late 1800s and follows Abby Walker, a wealthy Bostonian who witnesses the murder of her husband as they travel to The West. Abby meets Hoyt Rawlins (Barr), a charming outlaw looking for a reason to live, while on a journey of revenge.
On their journey, Abby and Hoyt stop in Independence, Texas, where they meet many unique locals escaping their own traumatic pasts and pursuing their goals. In a community that is nothing like it seems, the newly discovered family will struggle to adapt to the changing environment around them while also acting as change agents for others.
In Independence, Hovanessian will play Tom Davidson, the new Sheriff. Tom has a good looking face for someone you don’t know is very annoying. And Abby has good reason to think Tom is a real villain. Tom, who quickly took on the task of Liam, Abby’s late husband, is now a well-known figure in the community.
A story that Seamus Fahey and Anna Fricke co-wrote served as the basis for the test script. The director is Larry Teng. Along with Rideback’s Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore, Fahey, Teng and Jared Padalecki are executive producing the film under the Pursued by a Bear label alongside Fricke and Laura Terry.
