GloRilla hail from Tennessee Memphis
GloRilla revealed to Breakbeat Media in May that she is from Memphis, stating:
“My hometown is Frayser, Tennessee.” Frayser’s [a Memphis neighborhood] I’m from Memphis, too.” She also expressed pride in being one of the post-Young Dolph Memphis rappers striving to promote the city.”
In an interview with Refinery 29, she stated:
“That’s very nice. I’m truly delighted to be a part of it because it’s a new wave. “I’m honored to be one of the pioneers of the new wave.”
In a different interview, she said that she no longer resides there. She said on Revolt’s Big Facts podcast that she “doesn’t be in Memphis much longer” since there is “too much” going on. The artist seems to be referring to violence against the city’s rappers.
GloRilla’s most recent single, F.N.F, reached number one on the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart.
Glorilla’s track F.N.F., which also featured HitKidd, became viral. On April 29, 2022, the song was uploaded and quickly went popular on the video-sharing platform TikTok, creating a breakthrough smash for both artists. On the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart, it peaked at No. 1. Despite the fact that the song became popular on the TikTok platform, GloRilla has previously said that she is not primarily interested in making TikTok music.
In a statement to Refinery29, the rapper stated:
“I’ve got bars.” I don’t usually create TikTok songs. But sometimes it’s so difficult that it simply gets viral on there because it’s so fantastic.”
The musician has gotten appreciation from industry rappers like Travis Scott and DeJ Loaf.
GloRilla and CardiB unite on the new song Tomorrow2.
Meanwhile, GloRilla has released Tomorrow 2, a new collaboration with Cardi B that is a follow-up to her previous blockbuster single, Tomorrow. The rapper went on to elaborate on her portion by hinting at the track’s lyrics. She wrote about the song on Twitter:
“BUT THAT’S WHY I LOVE MONDAY.”
She also used a gold award and a green checkmark emoji before adding:
“It’s official, myself and my lady @iamcardib are engaged.” TOMORROW 2 IS DROPPING FRIDAY 9/23 AT MIDNIGHT… Save the below and let’s gooooooo.”
GloRilla’s F.N.F. was dubbed the “summer tune” by Cardi B. She subsequently appeared as a guest on Kay Flock’s Shake It with Dougie B and Bory300 in April, followed by Hot Sh*t in July, which included Kanye West and Lil Durk.
