A sense of shock and fear grips the Laveen neighborhood of south Phoenix following a tragic incident that claimed the life of a young man. Frank Sunn, a 30-year-old resident, succumbed to his injuries after being stabbed multiple times. The Phoenix Police Department responded to distressing reports of a stabbing around 51st Avenue and Baseline Road at approximately 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023. Despite swift medical attention, Sunn tragically did not survive his wounds.
During the investigation, law enforcement cordoned off the area near the intersection, and officers diligently processed the scene. The nearby Circle K store became a focal point of police activity as authorities sought clues and information related to the shocking incident.
Tragically, Sunn was not the only victim of this wave of violence. In a separate, equally disturbing incident, 56-year-old Jose Martinez Zuaznavas lost his life in the early hours of the same day after being stabbed near 75th Avenue and Camelback Road at 2:15 a.m. Law enforcement officers discovered Zuaznavas with at least one stab wound, and despite being swiftly transported to a hospital, he could not be saved.
In a bid to solve these heinous crimes, Silent Witness has stepped in, offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the resolution of these cases. Phoenix police have urged anyone with pertinent information to contact Silent Witness confidentially. Tipsters can call the toll-free numbers 480(WITNESS) or 480(TESTIGO) to provide information and potentially assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice. The community remains on high alert as authorities intensify efforts to ensure the safety and security of its residents.
