Former Camp WOW Staff and wrangler Meatball Hayden Stanley has died

Gilmer, TX  – Hayden Stanley, affectionately known as “Meatball” among his peers at Camp WOW, tragically passed away, leaving a profound impact on many. A longtime resident of Gilmer, Texas, Hayden’s sudden demise was announced on Thursday, December 21, 2023.

The SWCC Youth released a heartfelt statement mourning the loss, expressing deep sadness and emphasizing Hayden’s enduring presence despite his physical absence. They reminisced about his joyful spirit and offered support to those who cherished their memories with “Meatball.”

Born and raised in Gilmer, Hayden graduated from Harmony High School and was an integral part of Camp WOW, initially joining as a camper and later becoming a dedicated wrangler with AFCC Cowboy Camps. He devoted three summers to the WOW staff, culminating in his leadership role as the Green Team Leader on the Rockwall during the recent summer. His unwavering commitment to every camp retreat underscored his constant presence and deep connection to Camp WOW, where his absence now echoes like that of a family member.

“If you knew him you loved him. With great sadness Hayden Stanley “Meatball” was tragically taken to his eternal Home. Although he is more ALIVE now than he ever was here, we miss him and pray for peace for his family.“If you had Meatball as your Wrangler at CowCamp or knew him in some other way and need to talk, I’m available just call me.Meatball, until we see you again it was a pleasure to serve the Kingdom with you. “

Hayden Stanley was recognized as an exceptional young man, known for his unwavering faith and service to the Lord. His contagious laughter and genuine love for Camp WOW left a lasting impression on those around him.
