In a devastating incident on November 30, a fatal accident occurred in the Wegmans parking lot in Perinton, New York, resulting in the tragic death of 63-year-old Jane Kanehl, a seasoned Manager of Engineering at Xerox Business Consulting.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported that the accident, described as a sun glare-influenced incident, transpired around 10:33 a.m. when a male driver, accessing a parking space, unintentionally struck Jane Kanehl, who had just exited her vehicle.
Despite prompt attention from EMS personnel at the scene, Kanehl was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries on Friday at 10:21 a.m.
The authorities, after interviews with the motorist and witnesses, identified sun glare as a contributing factor to the accident. Deputies confirmed that neither alcohol, narcotics, nor speed were involved in the incident.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office dispatched deputies to the Perinton store on Route 31 shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, responding to a report of a pedestrian-involved collision. Kanehl, who had recently left her vehicle, was struck by a car entering a parking space.
The driver cooperated with the investigation, providing essential details. The tragic incident highlights the dangers posed by environmental factors, emphasizing the need for caution in adverse weather conditions.
