News Elizabeth Leiner
Elizabeth Leiner is leaving “The Young and the Restless” after five months in Genoa City as her character is currently serving a sentence for embezzlement. Her most recent episode was on Friday, August 6.
Leiner discussed her passing in an interview with Soap Opera Digest now available on newsstands. “To be fair, I got the feeling from a story perspective, and then executive producer, Tony [Morina], had an interesting conversation because he was so supportive and kind,” Leiner said of his resignation. So no one caught me off guard. That’s a very nice way to end.
Leiner describes her time on the show as like an exciting roller coaster ride that lasts only a few days: “Every time they schedule me, I think, ‘Whatever is going on, I hopefully it will keep going.’” I like to follow Tara to see where she is going because she is becoming more attractive.
Leiner noted that while her plot thread seems to have ended, she would gladly return if given the opportunity. She replied, “Of course,” to Digest when he asked about a future return. I almost never say never. I would be ready for that without a doubt if the circumstances were perfect.
Actress Rebekah Graf (“Walker,” “SWAT”) was originally scheduled to begin playing Tara Locke on Tuesday, February 23, but scheduling difficulties forced a change. Due to CBS broadcasting Former President Donald J. Trump’s Second Impeachment Trial, Leiner’s premiere date was also postponed to March 1.
Leiner recalled to Digest, “I started 48 hours after I found out I got the position. We shot seasons of two or three episodes on that first day, so there were a lot of different seasons and dressing ups. Running on heels up and down hallways trying to hit various sets made me feel like a madman. The journey is long but full of fun.
Leiner had roles in “Drop Dead Diva” and “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” on Lifetime before joining “Y&R.” She also appeared in the TV series “Nanny Killer” and “Suburban Swing Club”.
